The Framework for BRT
In July 2015, the Utah Transportation Authority (UTA), in cooperation with study partners, updated the 2011 Draft Alternatives Analysis Report as part of the current Ogden/Weber State University Transit Project Study. Key findings included:
- Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) on 25th St. as the Locally Preferred Alternative (LPA).
- The selection of the LPA was based on an 18-month study to evaluate transit alternatives including streetcar and BRT on two specific alignments.
- The study team conducted extensive outreach with residents, businesses, special-interest groups and agencies during the process. Overall, regardless of the location and mode, the majority of people expressed support for a transit project in Ogden.
The City Council adopted the LPA to include a 5.3-mile BRT line between Ogden Intermodal Transit Center, Ogden’s central business district, Weber State University, and McKay-Dee Hospital in July 2015.
